Sierra Grande Merlot – Smooth, Velvety, and Rich in Flavor

Sierra Grande Merlot is an exquisite red wine that offers a smooth, velvety texture and rich, inviting flavors, making it a perfect choice for Merlot enthusiasts. Sourced from the sun-soaked vineyards of Chile, this wine showcases the elegance and charm that the Merlot grape is renowned for.

In the glass, Sierra Grande Merlot exhibits a deep ruby red color, hinting at the depth and complexity that awaits. The nose is a delightful bouquet of ripe fruits, with notes of plum, red berries, and black cherry, complemented by subtle hints of vanilla, spice, and soft oak. This aromatic profile sets the stage for a harmonious and well-balanced taste experience.

On the palate, Sierra Grande Merlot is smooth and medium-bodied, offering lush flavors of dark fruit like blackberry, raspberry, and plum. These fruity notes are enhanced by soft, round tannins and a touch of chocolate and vanilla, giving the wine a rich and velvety mouthfeel. The wine finishes with a clean, smooth aftertaste that lingers pleasantly, leaving a hint of fruit and spice.

This Merlot is incredibly versatile and pairs wonderfully with a wide range of foods. It complements grilled meats such as steak and lamb, as well as roasted poultry like chicken or turkey. It also pairs beautifully with pasta dishes, especially those with tomato-based sauces or creamy sauces. For cheese lovers, it pairs perfectly with soft cheeses like brie, camembert, or gouda.

Sierra Grande Merlot is an ideal wine for both casual sipping and special occasions. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening at home or hosting a dinner party, this Merlot’s approachable yet refined style will appeal to all wine lovers.

Production

Grapes are harvested during the coolest part of the day to ensure they reach the winery in prime condition. Temperatures are kept fairly low throughout the winemaking process, to allow the grapes to express their natural fruit characters. No oak is used. The resulting wine is fuller with more body and softer tannins and works really well with the higher altitude component.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of plums and cherries mixed with peppery spice and a touch of tabacco leaf. The palate is juicy and fresh with soft red fruits and a hint of green pepper. A really easy drinking Merlot. Great food wine, serve with a juicy steak, savoury lamb casseroles, herby sausages or a char-grilled vegetable lasagne.
