Since 1800, when the first Scots landed in Buenos Aires harbour, they have embraced and influenced the culture of Argentina. Upon seeing Argentina’s familiar lofty mountains and beautiful heathlands, the term Highlander or Montañés became synonymous with their new home. Today, the area surrounding Mendoza boasts a vibrant community of Scottish-Argentines, and nowhere more so than San Rafael where this wine is produced by the oldest winery of the region. Montañés the wine is a tribute to the original Highlander of those mountainous lands.
Tasting Notes
A nose of spicy mocha underlines the open fruitiness of the Malbec grape. The taste is rich and vibrant with dark red fruits that burst on to the palate. The structure of this wine will enable it to age for a futher year or two in bottle.
